Suitcase Stuff:  The Travelling Event manager Under-pressure-packing! That’s the inspiration for our latest blog as we embark on an away-from-home event management week. j2 ideas & events is off to central Queensland (Australia). It’s our fourth year as event managers of Gladstone Ports Corporation’s cause-related sporting event, Botanic to Bridge (an 8km and 3km fun run for 4000+). Based out of Brisbane offices, we travel all across Queensland to plan and manage events, especially to regional areas. Seasoned travellers thus, we tend to leave our personal packing to the last minute while focussing on the more important things—event details! And I have a theory. The Dreaded Dress Code!

Ping! An email has arrived reminding j2 of the black-tie dress code for next week’s “Events Industry Night of Nights” and hereby prompting another ‘fashion-panic’ post on our event planning blog. Just under one week remains until the 2013 Australian Event Awards gala on 19th November at Sydney’s Doltone House, and j2 ideas & events can’t wait to learn who is going home as Event Manager of the Year. (If you didn’t know already, our Brisbane events management company is one of four category finalists!) Yet excitement over the prospect of winning appears outweighed by dressing etiquette worries...again! (I refer to our mid-year “I have nothing to wear!” post). A frenzy of dress code debate has ensued in the j2 office. We’re more anxious about fashion faux-pas than helping our fearless leader script a one-minute ‘just-in-case’ acceptance speech. 5 Minutes with...

I was digging through some old media clippings today and found a piece I did with the Sunshine Coast Daily in 2011.  The journalist sent me a list of questions to answer to go in a regular column in the business section entitled "5 Minutes with ....".  I suppose the idea is to let readers gain a deeper insight into the person behind the business. At the time I had a lot of fun answering the questions and thought this might be a great way for us to introduce the j2 team. So here are my original, unedited answers from two years ago - surprisingly, I don't think I would choose to change my responses if asked the same questions again today. ..and yes, I have never cooked a meal in my life! x Jo Jordan To me business is...   the third child I never had.
